Do you want to add some comfort and style to your space by placing a rug in your bedroom?
Are you having trouble deciding which rug is the perfect size for your layout?
Take a look at Tufenkian’s guidelines on how to choose the right size rug for your full, queen, or king bed.
A full bed is also referred to as a double bed. It measures 54”x75” and is 16” bigger than a twin bed. The best size rug for a full bed is typically 4’x6’ or 5’x7’. Either size should balance the size of the footboard with the width of the rug.
Because a full bed is one of the smallest frames, finding the right size rug depends on the room’s size and layout. A 4’x6’ rug is ideal for small to medium-sized rooms. A 5’x7’ rug can look good in medium to large-sized rooms. Placement looks best with the top quarter of the rug underneath the bed.
Your bedroom should measure at least 10’x10’ to accommodate a queen bed, which measures 60”x80”. There are also Olympic queen beds which are a little wider at 66”. Generally, a 6’x9’ or 8’x10’ rug will work best with these layouts.
A 6’x9′ rug is suitable for medium to large-sized bedrooms where there’s a lot of space in front of your queen bed. It’s best to put the majority of the rug underneath the frame. You can place an 8’x10’ rug entirely underneath the bed or leave 18” to 24” of space between the top of the rug and your nightstands.
A king bed has the largest frame and measures 76”x80”. It’s usually best to pair this big bed with a big rug such as an 8’x10’ or 9’x12’. However, it depends on the size of your room. You don’t want the rug to extend too close to the walls and overtake the space.
You can put an 8’×10’ rug under the lower portion of the bed. This placement should give you about two feet of rug on each side of the bed. A 9’x12’ rug can encompass the entire bed plus the nightstands with carpet to spare.
Picking the perfect rug for your full, queen, or king bed should be easy now that you know which size goes best with each frame.
